Show Overview:
Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors is a zany adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic tale. Count Dracula’s sinister plans are hilariously disrupted by a cast of eccentric characters, including the resourceful Mina, the bumbling Jonathan Harker, and the quirky Professor Van Helsing. Combining the comedy styles of Monty Python and Lucille Ball with the sultry charm of Elvis Presley, this adaptation transforms the traditional vampire story into a seductive, fun-filled, spooky romp perfect for the Halloween season.
Character Overview:
This version of Dracula has a very flexible cast — and the director plans for a dynamic ensemble of about 12-15 actors. Age and gender presentation according to the script are given as a guide; all ages, genders, ethnicities, and abilities are encouraged to come audition for any character.
Count Dracula, (any gender/age): a blood thirsty narcissist, but endlessly witty, attractive, charming, and alluring. No one can resist.
Jonathan Harker, (male, 20s-30s): VERY tight-laced real estate agent who is engaged to Lucy.
Lucy Westfeldt, (female, 20s-30s): A strong spirit of adventure with the physical strength to back it up. Likes to take control and is always up for a challenge.
Mina Westfeldt, (female, 20s-30s): Lucy’s underestimated sister. Beautiful, but no one thinks so. She longs for love in all the wrong places.
Dr. Wallace Westfeldt, (male, 40s-60s): A self-important blowhard who recently lost his wife. He runs a hospital for the criminally insane out of his house.
Dr. Van Helsing (female, 30s-60s): A vampire-hunting doctor from Germany, constantly overlooked because of her gender… she is out to prove herself.
Renfeild (ageless, any/gender) – patient of Dr. Westfeldt’s — loves (and eats) bugs.
Ensemble (5-7 any gender/age) who play multiple roles, operate puppets, create sound effects, and narrate the story — including: Kitty Rutherford, Lord Cavendish, Lord Worthington, Lord Havemercy, Driver, Captain, Bosen, and Man-Eating Wolves.
