The Gin Game

The Gin Game

Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award Winning Play

Weller Martin and Fonsia Dorsey, two elderly residents at a nursing home for senior citizens, strike up an acquaintance. Neither seems to have any other friends, and they start to enjoy each other's company. Weller offers to teach Fonsia how to play gin rummy, and they begin playing a series of games that Fonsia always wins. Weller's inability to win a single hand becomes increasingly frustrating to him, while Fonsia becomes increasingly confident.

While playing their games of gin, they engage in lengthy conversations about their families and their lives in the outside world. Gradually, each conversation becomes a battle, much like the ongoing gin games, as each player tries to expose the other's weaknesses, to belittle the other's life, and to humiliate the other thoroughly.

Starring Broadway and TV veterans Doug Stender and Jill Tasker. Some adult language. | $17.50/$16.50

The Thomas Brothers

The Thomas Brothers

Natives of Long Beach, CA, Ross and Rhett began performing in musical theatre throughout the Los Angeles area. While having successful individual careers, Ross and Rhett joined together to combine their experiences, creating the Thomas Brothers. The Thomas Brothers' career has taken them to over 30 states and 13 countries on land and sea. In 2010 they began headlining their own show at the Music City Center in Branson, MO. After one of their performances, Jimmy Osmond invited Ross and Rhett to join up with the world famous Osmond Brothers in Branson and on tour. The brothers' recognition continues to grow with credits including television, cruise lines, corporate events and benefit performances.

Rhett and Ross pay tribute to those classic icons who inspired them: Frank Sinatra, Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby and many more. In philosophy, happiness translates the Greek concept of eudaimonia, and refers to the good life, or flourishing, rather than simply an emotion. In psychology, happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being which can be defined by, among others, positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. Happy mental states reflect judgments by a person about their overall well-being. Outside of these definitions, what is true happiness and how do you create it?

Come find out more from common men and women as they share their approaches to Creating Happiness in this world. Our events always include live music, 6 fabulous storytellers, confetti, fun interactiveness, a Motivational Balloon drop (inside each balloon is a motivational phrase on topic), a cool light show, and lots of takeaways on topic! Doors are at 7:00 pm and the show starts at 7:30 pm, come early to grab a great seat!
