SUMMARY:Moon Over Buffalo [Live Theatre]
DESCRIPTION:Moon Over Buffalo \nby Ken Ludwig \nIt is the summer of 1953\, and George and Charlotte Hay\, former Broadway stars\, have taken their run-down touring company to Buffalo\, New York. In Buffalo they have the intention of running “Cyrano de Bergerac” and “Private Lives” in repertory\, all the while grumbling about missed Hollywood opportunities. But on-stage harmony is compromised when George performs an off-stage infidelity\, impregnating the company’s ingenue. When Charlotte learns of this\, she prepares to run away with the family lawyer\, sending lightweight George on a grief-stricken drinking binge. Meanwhile\, it  turns out that Frank Capra is headed to town on a talent scouting mission looking to hire the couple for his swashbuckling Scarlet Pimpernel epic. As a result\, the Hay family — including scornful\, deaf mother-in-law Ethel\, determinedly practical daughter Rosalind\, and dashing actor Paul\, Rosalind’s ex-boyfriend — must work overtime to get sloppy drunk George into his Cyrano hat and nose…. or is it his Elyot Chase smoking jacket? For the latest album\, Crawl\, Cristy spent nearly two years working with her band members before even entering the studio. The result is her most polished and nuanced album to date\, a blend of storytelling lyrics with pop hooks and dazzling instrumental work that is sure to please both devoted fans and first-time listeners. Now on her fifth solo album\, Jenn began her career with John Mellencamp\, meeting the Hoosier rocker in Bloomington\, Indiana\, where she was in the midst of an all-American swimming career at Indiana University. Tickets are available separately for each\, or an all-day pass is available. \nFingerstyle Guitar Competition: \n11:00 AM – 2:00PM \nAcoustic guitarists from around the world take the stage for the 15th annual Fingerstyle Guitar Competition. The competition features two rounds of performance\, showcasing a wide range of styles\, techniques\, and original music. At the conclusion of the competition\, the top three players will be awarded grand-prize guitars and earn the honor of performing in the Evening Concert. \nEvening Concert: \n7:30 PM \nThe Evening Concert features fingerstyle guitar legend Muriel Anderson\, with special guests Tim Thompson and Jack Wilson. The concert will open with performances by the top three competition winners\, giving audiences the chance to hear tomorrow’s guitar greats alongside established masters. \nMuriel Anderson is internationally celebrated for her mastery of the 20-string harp-guitar\, her versatility across musical genres\, and her warm\, engaging stage presence. She was the first woman to win the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship\, and Guitar Player Magazine has named her one of the Top 50 Guitarists of All Time. Recently recognized among the Top Ten Female Guitarists\, Muriel’s lasting legacy lies in her uplifting compositions and deeply expressive performances.\nShe has recorded with country legend Chet Atkins\, performed with Les Paul and countless other greats in “Muriel Anderson’s All Star Guitar Night®” over the past 30+ years. Muriel’s CD Nightlight Daylight placed first in its category in 11 national awards\, followed by Acoustic Chef\, an international CD with cookbook. Muriel’s release Sailing Dreams exhibits new levels of creativity–she has even created a board game to accompany the music. \nJack Wilson is a Chicagoland-based guitarist and 2013 Indiana Guitar Fest Champion. He won 1st place at the 2016 International Fingerstyle Guitar Competition at the Walnut Valley Festival after placing second in 2015. Appearing multiple times as a featured performer on our stage\, Jack is a chameleon of a player\, being able to shift comfortably from acoustic to electric\, pick or fingerstyle in a wide range of styles\, and immediately gets your attention by producing a cowbell sound from the guitar from his version of “Low Rider”. \nTim Thompson is a Nashville-based fingerstyle guitarist and a two-time International Fingerstyle Guitar Champion. Long associated with our guitar festival\, Tim’s career includes extensive session work and collaborations across genres\, appearing with artists like Tommy Emmanuel\, Crystal Gayle\, and Hwy 101. He has recorded eleven CDs and two DVDs. DESCRIPTION:Audition Notice: \nArsenic and Old Lace\nby Joseph Kesselring \nSave the date!! Arsenic and Old Lace auditions at the Brown County Playhouse. \nAudition Notice: The Brown County Playhouse and director Susan Rardin\, will hold auditions for Arsenic and Old Lace on Monday\, August 10th and Tuesday\, August 11th at 7pm. Auditions will be held at the Brown County Playhouse. Sides will be available for perusal at 6:30pm each night. Production dates are October 2\, 3\, 4\, 9\, 10. Rehearsals will be four evenings per week with rehearsals starting Sunday August 16th. Contact Susan Rardin\, if questions. \nShow synopsis: Drama critic Mortimer Brewster’s engagement announcement is upended when he discovers a corpse in his elderly aunts’ window seat. Mortimer rushes to tell Abby and Martha before they stumble upon the body themselves\, only to learn that the two old women aren’t just aware of the dead man in their parlor\, they killed him! Between his aunts’ penchant for poisoning wine\, a brother who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt\, and another brother using plastic surgery to hide from the police – not to mention Mortimer’s own hesitancy about marriage – it’ll be a miracle if Mortimer makes it to his wedding. Arsenic and Old Lace is a classic dark comedy about the only thing more deadly than poison: family. \n  \nThe following roles are needed: \nAbby Brewster: (stage age 65-80) One of the Brewster sisters who reside in the family home. \nMartha Brewster: (stage age 65-80) One of the Brewster sisters who reside in the family home. \nJonathan Brewster: (Stage age 45-60) Eldest nephew of the Brewster sisters. A criminal and murderer on the lam. Sinister\, threatening\, imposing. His face has been surgically transformed to look like Boris Karloff. \nDr. Einstein: (Stage age 35-70) Jonathan’s criminal partner. He is responsible forJonathan’s facial transformation. \nTeddy Brewster: (Stage age 40-65) Middle nephew of the Brewster sisters. Believes he is Teddy Roosevelt. Jovial and good-natured. \nMortimer Brewster: (Stage Age 25-45) Youngest nephew of the Brewster sisters. In love with Elaine Harper. Works for the newspaper reviewing plays. Kind \nand funny. Is doted on by his aunts. \nElaine Harper: (Stage age 25-40) Girlfriend of Mortimer. Daughter of the Rev. Dr. Harper. \nReverend Dr. Harper: (Stage age 50-70) Minister of nearby church. Neighbor of the Brewsters. Father of Elaine. \nOfficer Brophy: (Stage age 25-60) Brooklyn police officer. \nOfficer Klein: (Stage age 20-50) Brooklyn police officer. \nOfficer O’Hara: (Stage age 30-50) Brooklyn police officer. Aspires to be a playwright. \nLieutenant Rooney: (Stage age 50-70) Brooklyn police Lieutenant. Senior officer. \nMr. Gibbs (Stage age 65-80) Potential boarder. \nMr. Witherspoon: (Stage age 60-80) Superintendent of the local looney bin.
