SUMMARY:Kalamazoo
DESCRIPTION:Peg and Irv\, two quirky but endearing baby-boomers\, bravely venture into the world of modern dating. But when these opposites attract\, they discover love isn’t any easier the second time around. PEG\, a 70-something\, Irish Catholic bird lover meets IRVING\, a 70-something Jewish\, metal detector-toting East Coaster on an online dating site\, it feels like love at first click. But after their\, crazy margarita-filled first date\, complete with body shots and morning-after tattoos\, PEG and IRVING find that they still have a little aging to do if they want to forget their past and move forward into a future together.  Winner of the Riva Shiner Comedy Award\, KALAMAZOO is a romantic comedy about life’s second act and learning you’re never too old to be young.  This delightful cross between The Golden Girls and The Odd Couple has made its way around the world\, but its original premiere was at the Bloomington Playwrights Project here in Indiana! \nInterludes of lively dance music will be performed by the Bloomington-based “Romantic Interlude Trio” made up of Carolyn Dutton on violin\, Monika Herzig on piano\, and Peter Kienle on Bass. \nHere’s what the reviewers have to say about it: \n“A disarming comedy that lets us laugh about growing older while addressing the very real hardships and heartaches that come when one spouse from a life-long marriage is suddenly left alone…the banter in this play is both hilarious and startlingly honest. It just rings true in ways that can be surprising and shocking\, but always satisfying.” —Examiner.com. \n“…a rich story about love at any age.” —EncoreMichigan.com. \n“…an involved and skillful piece of writing.” —Indiana Public Media. \n“Bouts of riotous laughter…it’s hard to imagine a better show.” —Herald-Times (Bloomington\, Indiana) \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:CANCELLED- The McCartney Years
DESCRIPTION:THIS SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELLED \nThe artists’ tour bus broke down while on their way here.  Everyone is well.  Reschedule date TBD.  All tickets will be refunded at this time. \nPaul McCartney and The Wings are gearing up for a night of music like you’ve never heard before! Experience The Best of the McCartney Years here at The Brown County Playhouse! The world’s no. 1 Paul McCartney concert experience\, recognized as the ‘best on the scene’ by former Beatles promoter Sid Bernstein. \nNote-for-note\, harmonies and riffs– every song is played live with nothing pre-recorded and to the standard set by McCartney himself in the early 1970s. Below is a look at the talent behind the world’s premier McCartney concert experience. \nYuri Pool as Paul McCartney: Lead singer and performer\, Yuri Pool\, began his epic musical journey as a little boy in Holland\, listening to his dad’s treasured Beatles and Wings records and subsequently requesting a guitar for his 11thbirthday. Completely self-taught\, Yuri made his professional musical debut in the UK\, when he was cast in a major theatrical Beatles music production that toured the world\, which allowed him to learn\, experience\, and perfect the nuances of Paul McCartney’s legendary music and performance style. \nJennifer Pool as Linda McCartney: Jennifer Pool\, off-stage and on-stage wife to lead singer\, Yuri Pool\, was born and raised on a horse farm in Michigan\, where she helped train and ride competitive show-jumping and dressage horses. The family farm currently serves as a rescue haven for abandoned and abused animals\, including a zebra! Leaning heavily on her theatrical background and the musical guidance of the entire band\, Jennifer joined The McCartney Years as Linda in the Spring of 2017. \nCheck out their website and read more about the group here! \nThe McCartney Years: Home \n  \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:The Red Mountain Boys With The Hammer And The Hatchet
DESCRIPTION:The Red Mountain Boys are a hot new bluegrass supergroup lighting up the Pikes Peak region. A longtime staple of the scene\, Alan Begley (Willie Bean Bluegrass) fronts the Boys with his Martin flat-top guitar. Lewis Mock (Kansas State Hall-of-Fame musician\, Radford & Lewis Band) brings the fire with his five-string banjo. Jon Murphy (Grandpa’s Cough Medicine\, The Grass is Dead) keeps the Boys rock solid with his metronome-like bass playing. Jeff Daugherty (2014 John Hartford Songwriting Award winner) plays his mandolin like a man possessed.\nTake their instrumental prowess\, add in four-part vocal harmonies and world-class songwriting and look out! It’s a recipe for powerful\, hard-driving bluegrass music.\n\nSee more of them Here:\nRed Mountain Boys \n \nThe Hammer & The Hatchet (John Bowyer & Jayme Hood) refined their musical artistries in the fabled hills of southern Indiana. They honed their skills and craft in the honest old-school tradition of putting in the time and collaborating with some of the most significant performers in their scene. \nTheir hard work has been paying off. With hundreds live performances in the last several years\, and their long-awaited third Album “Road May Flood” hot off the presses\, these road seasoned troubadours are swiftly traveling beyond their deep Bluegrass/New-grass/Americana roots\, both musically and geographically\, and into fresh territory where they have been defined as both “Authentic af” yet artistically “innovative and delightfully original”.\n\nWith masterful musicianship and endlessly appealing vocals\, these genuinely adept co-writers never cease to deliver a deep well of originally introspective and heartfelt songs\, of both comedy and tragedy\, that consistently brings music lovers of all ages and sensitivities to their growing audiences.\n\nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:Love Letters By: A.R. Gurney
DESCRIPTION:A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters is a tender\, tragi-comic\, and nuanced examination of the shared nostalgia\, missed opportunities\, and deep closeness of two lifelong\, complicated friends. \nWhile spanning five decades and numerous locations\, it is staged simply\, with two actors behind desks or sitting in cozy chairs\, letting their words describe a world of emotion.\nSynopsis: \nWhen Andrew Makepeace Ladd III accepts an invitation to Melissa Gardner’s birthday party\, and Melissa writes a thank-you note to ask just why he got her “The Lost Princess of Oz” (answer: she looks like a lost princess)\, a romantic friendship and correspondence destined to last for almost half a century is born. Both from affluent\, East Coast families — Melissa has more money\, but Andy has better parents — the friends communicate with each other through angst-ridden boarding school experiences\, European adventures\, failed marriages\, and the ups and downs of career. Over the course of their lives\, Andy and Melissa’s relationship goes through many changes\, as the sometimes-sweethearts/sometimes-friends go through periods of estrangement\, and the intense\, clandestine affair which will accelerate Melissa’s emotional breakdown. Despite the painful differences which will ultimately tear them apart\, they remain each other’s most trusted confidante\, and are “true lovers” on paper\, if not on the earth. \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:Arsenic and Old Lace: Live Retro Radio
DESCRIPTION:Retro Radio comes to life in this vintage Lux Radio rendition of Arsenic and Old Lace. Audience participation is encouraged. \nThe play is a farcical black comedy revolving around the Brewster family\, descended from the Mayflower settlers but now composed of maniacs\, most of them homicidal. The hero\, Mortimer Brewster\, is a drama critic who must deal with his crazy\, murderous family and local police in Brooklyn\, New York\, as he debates whether to go through with his recent promise to marry the woman he loves\, Elaine Harper\, who lives next door and is the daughter of the local minister. \nHis family includes two spinster aunts who have taken to murdering lonely old men by poisoning them with a glass of home-made elderberry wine laced with arsenic\, strychnine\, and “just a pinch” of cyanide; a brother who believes he is Theodore Roosevelt and digs locks for the Panama Canal in the cellar of the Brewster home (which then serve as graves for the aunts’ victims; he thinks that they died of yellow fever); and a murderous brother who has received plastic surgery performed by an alcoholic accomplice\, Dr. Einstein (a character based on real-life gangland surgeon Joseph Moran) to conceal his identity\, and now looks like horror-film actor Boris Karloff (a self-referential joke\, as the part was originally played on Broadway by Karloff). \n  \nBUY TICKETS
