SUMMARY:LIKE: A Documentary about the Impact of Social Media on our Lives
DESCRIPTION:LIKE achieves the impossible: actually getting people–youth and adults– to put down their phones for a few minutes.  Brown CountySchools\, in partnership with the Brown County Recovery and Wellness Coalition present a special screening of the documentary\, LIKE  to begin a dialogue between local families\, community leaders and experts. The event will feature a viewing of the film\, followed by an informative panel discussion led by Dr. Sandy Washburn with local youth\, community members and special Guest Dr. Johan Bollen. Dr. Bollen researches social media use.  After the panel\, all attendees are invited to stay for socializing and free refreshments.  All are welcome to attend and we will offer door prizes. \nThis take-action\, inspiring film is the 2nd installment in the award-winning INDIEFLIX MentalHealth Trilogy\, created to entertain\, engage and enlighten about issues surrounding mental health. Before Covid\, 2 billion smartphone owners were checking their phones\, on average\, 150 times a day\, and the enforced isolation and mandated screen time of the past year has only increased this figure. Research continues to confirm that having your head down\, staring at the screen\, chasing “likes” and seeking “followers” is the perfect recipe for low self-esteem\, isolation and depression\, as well as loss of focus and patience. \nThe event is free and free refreshments will follow the panel discussion.

SUMMARY:Leo Kottke
DESCRIPTION:Leo Kottke (born September 11\, 1945 in Athens\, Georgia) is a legendary acoustic guitar virtuoso who has developed a cult following of fellow guitarists and fans over the span of a 30-year career of recording and performing. \nBlending folk\, jazz\, and blues influences into a signature finger-picked style of syncopated\, polyphonic music\, Kottke’s work pre-dated and predicted much of the New Age instrumental music movement\, and is often considered part of the American Primitivism movement\, partly because he was signed to John Fahey’s Takoma Records label. \nKottke has collaborated on his records with his mentor John Fahey\, Chet Atkins\, Lyle Lovett\, Margo Timmins of the Cowboy Junkies\, and Rickie Lee Jones. He has recorded tunes by Tom T. Hall\, Johnny Cash\, Carla Bley\, Fleetwood Mac\, The Byrds\, Jorma Kaukonen\, Kris Kristofferson\, Randall Hylton and many others. He is also a frequent guest on the radio variety program A Prairie Home Companion. \nKottke has recently joined up with Phish bassist Mike Gordon to produce two new albums\, clone and sixty six steps. This duo created a new tone resembling what can be described almost like island music. \nBUY TICKETS
